This Year's Model Updates:

The Grand Prix underwent a redesign for 2004, but those familiar with the big sedan will find its blend of performance and comfort hasn't changed much.

Pros:
  • Strong supercharged V6, nimble handling, attractive gauges, easy-to-use controls, big trunk, fold-flat front-passenger seat.
Cons:
  • Build and materials quality still needs work, tight backseat, noisy engine, not enough storage or cupholders, no auto climate control.

I have owned mine for two years and have 33k on the odometer. I have not had any problems at all other than a bad seal on the gas cap. I do a lot of highway driving. The midrange acceleration is very good with the super charger for merging & passing. I average 22.5 miles a gallon (combined city/highway) No bad, the only drawback is premium fuel is required. In a nutshell, I have been satisified with the car & probably will look at another Pontiac (or other GM products) the next time around.

My car has alot to offer. We travel alot so w/ 2 kids we need alot of room. The trunk is great the way we pack we needed the room. The kids have plenty of leg room in the back. I myself have plenty of room in the driver seat. Overall great car w/alot of room.

  • Excelent car - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

The car is good. I usually bought foreign cars, but after test driving the GTP in 1998 I fell in love, and; no- more foreign cars for me. The 04 Grand Prix is not the best looking car on the market one must admit but it worth the price for the package

  • Excellent car at an excellent price - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

I was a very content foreign car owner until I purchased the Grand Prix GT1. The few American cars I had never seemed to peak my interest. Until I saw the Grand Prix. Not only does it have the feel and the ride of a high end luxury car, it grips the road like no other car in its class. The roomy interior and sporty exterior make this car an excellent car at an excellent price!

Love this car! Style, speed and up-to- date features. Comfort is a big asset to this car. Luxury in a Pontiac is all I can say!

  • Will it last 3 years? Doubt it. - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

NOT a good value. Afraid this car wont make it through my 3 year lease. Already had serviced a few times. Hearing more troubling sounds from the engine, doors, and other places. Had in for RECALL. Only a few months of driving (less than 5K miles) my GTP seems to be losing its gusto. "Power on demand" was right- on at first but now seems like "power when it wants to not when I want to." Stalled twice coming down driveway with a few more close calls. Watch out for jerky take offs. Monsoon speakers sound blown without ever blaring the stereo. Not worth it if its not crisp and clear. What happened to taking a little pride in ones work? Shame on you GM.

After many weeks of car hunting and test driving the decision was made to purchase the Gran Prix ... a few weeks of driving this vehicle, I was disappointed with the many "gliches" this vehicle came with examples:poor workmanship on the interior, the rattles that came with the under body (only to be told it had something to do with the bracket that held the speaker system in the car I was charged for the "repair cost" AND the tech fees), horrible air conditioning quality...several trips back to the dealership .... let alone the inconvenience it caused me including the "costs" i was responsible for....I would never purchase another nor would I influenece anyone else to purch

  • Dont Believe all the ratings - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix

I just read that the newer Grand Prixs were considered one of the worst for resale value of the current cars manufactured. I wonder what in the calculation skewed this model to that conclusion. I have owned a 2004 GT2 loaded, (new design) since 2/05 and I love it. I own 3 newer vehicles, and am always buying or trading newer cars. This style GP gives me everything I want and need in a vehicle, along with 20 mpg city and 30.5 highway at 75 to 80 mph with the air on. I usually get bored with my vehicles within 6 to 9 months, but this one handles like a sports car, sounds powerful when accelerating, has all the amentities, and draws all kind of looks and admiring glances. Really like it.

  • A Joy to Drive - 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix
    By -

The test drive sold me. The longer I have this car the more I like it, and I thought it was great to begin with! Comfortable, fast, great handling, good gas mileage (averages better than our Sunfire!). Outstanding car on road trips - long or short. I really enjoy driving this car. Just cant say enough about the acceleration and handling. This car is just a joy to drive! Have had 2 problems - the right rear door requires too much effort to close and dealer cant resolve (the other doors close effortlessly) and had the temperature sensor go at 800 miles (warranty). Since then zero problems. Dont regret this purchase at all. Great car!
